Getting Away

I will stand by the statement that to be a good parent, you need time away from your kids. I love my children dearly. They are 100% awesome as well as 100% exhausting.

It has been some time since we have had a long vacation away from our kids. We were finally able to make it happen this year.  Bless my parents who graciously watched them for the week.

Here are our top 10 cruise highlights:
1.      sleep
2.      food
3.      the shows
4.      not having to clean or do laundry
5.      electronic games and books
6.      towel animals
7.      shopping in Progreso
8.      no children needing our attention
9.      being with each other
10.    enjoying another day on board….the cruise ended Saturday not Friday like we thought!

10 is an interesting story. We were walking out of the dining room Thursday night when the waiter said, "Maybe we'll see you tomorrow!" We figured that maybe he wasn't really sure what day it was. When we got back to our room we looked at the plans for tomorrow. Sure enough, we weren’t getting back to Galveston until Saturday morning.  I’m going to sum that up as a Christmas surprise.
