Dear Family and Friends,
As most of you know, Nathan and I shared some very happy news with you all a few weeks ago. After waiting a year and a half, we finally found out we were pregnant with our second child. What joy the past 9 weeks (actually 7 weeks when we found out) have brought us. We will remember those happy days. Sadly, our little one was taken from us. We found out on Saturday, after an ER visit from bleeding, that we probably miscarried. This morning we met with our doctor and officially found out that it was true. It was a very interesting morning. We cried very little. I think we had cried so much this weekend that we had no more tears to shed once we heard the news. Apparently our little baby had stopped growing at 6 weeks (3 weeks ago). 20% of pregnancies end at 6 weeks, so we are just a percentage. We feel good about that because we know there is nothing we could have done to prevent this miscarriage.
Nathan and I are doing well and moving on with life. Aaron will be 3 years old in a few weeks and his big birthday party is set for the 4th of July. I'd hate to be sad all week and not be able to celebrate such a special day. Nathan and I feel that Aaron deserves to have his Mommy and Daddy as normal as can be. We will have to talk to him about no longer being able to say, "Mommy has a baby in her tummy." I will miss hearing that but hopefully we will be able to go back to those sweet little words in a few months.
What we ask is that you pray for us. These next few weeks are going to be hard. Our goal is to look forward to the future and not dwell on the past. The doctor said that we should be able to try again in a month or two. Our worst fear is to feel lonely during this time. We'd be happy to receive a hug or a call from you. If we don't respond or call you back, it isn't because we don't appreciate it. Recovering from this will take some time.
For those friend and family members who are expecting: Please know that we still want to hear how your pregnancies are going. We are happy to hear that your pregnancies are going well. We wouldn't wish a miscarriage on anyone and are glad that you all who are expecting are happy and doing well. We pray that your pregnancy will continue to be healthy throughout.
We thank you for all of your support and we will keep you updated on future news.
In His Grip, April and Nathan
